CL1 - FAQs: "The real world is competitive."

"The real world is competitive."

The real world is competitive, but many occupations are collaborative. Most scientific research is done by teams of individuals working together. Many manufacturing companies (the automobile industry is one), have found that the old model of individuals performing specific tasks or even teams stratified within companies doesn't permit the creativity necessary for survival. New approaches involve teams of employees with diverse skills, backgrounds, and viewpoints working collaboratively among themselves and with other teams to create new products. The group and communication skills students learn by working in teams with a common purpose are skills they can take with them and use throughout their career.
