Paula Robinson Roxbury Community College E-mail: robinsonpaula@netscape.net Professional Activities Relevant to Workshop In 1984, I began research for my thesis "Building a Media Center," based on bringing broadcast media technology to the community level for community access, use and control. Meanwhile "Cable Access" and personal computers became accessible and my work merged the two into multi-media technology production demonstration workshops. In 1996, I received $50k for a permanent beta site and by 1999, raised $191k for five state-of-the-art-labs which will be automatically upgraded until the year 2019 (built-in additional funding). I have also designed the site layouts, software and technology configurations, and curriculum. My current work involves upgrading from multi-media community technology sites to distance learning through satellite conferencing: including equipment, policy(ies) both institutional and political, programming 24hr/7days, ongoing funding and long-term sustainability - to creating a foundation with the above for new paradigms in undergraduate research.
