I am very concerned with the problems we face in trying to reach the average student, especially in mathematics and physical sciences courses. I currently teach General Chemistry, both the "normal" lecture course and an individualized instruction (PSI) course, and am also the Coordinator of the General Chemistry Laboratories where we are in the process of implementing discovery type labs. I am particularly interested in incorporating computer-based learning technologies into the classroom and undergraduate laboratories. I feel this will enhance our constructivist, discovery-based approach and help our students, not just to learn the concepts, but to enjoy the process as well.
