Tristan Johnson Purdue University E-mail: tj@purdue.edu I study the design, development, and implementation of technology tools used for science learning. I am interested specifically in the use of the Web as a tool for learning and performance activities. The purpose of the proposed research is to understand the effects of web-based learning (WBL) activities on the cognitive development of higher-order thinking skills of science undergraduates. In other words, this study intends to investigate how undergraduate science students construct (cognitively develop) higher-order thinking skills while using WBL activities. This research is linked with learning theories that are constructivistic in nature.
