Maxine C. Willis Gettysburg Area High School E-mail: mwillis@netrax.net Maxine C. Willis is a physics teacher at Gettysburg Area High School, where she has been implementing Activity Based Physics curricula in a high school setting since 1989. She earned a B.S. from Simmons College and a M.S. from the University of Rochester. She is team teaching AP Workshop with Sue Suran. AP Workshop is a first year course using Workshop Calculus and Workshop Physics to prepare students for the AP Calculus AB Exam and the AP Physics Mechanics C Exam. She has directed teacher enhancement projects through the Dreyfus Master Teacher Institute, LabNet, the AAPT PTRA-PLUS Program, the Student Oriented Science Project and the Activity Based Physics Institutes. She serves as vice president of the Central Pennsylvania Section of the American Association of Physics Teachers. In 1990, she was awarded a GTE Gift grant. In 1996, she was honored as a Tandy Technology Scholar and as an Eleanor Roosevelt Teacher Fellow by the American Association of University Women.
